Caution

A fundamentally sound truck with a few real items to price in. Worth buying at the right number — not the asking price.

Value & negotiation context

Asking$24,900
Comparable asking prices$21,800 – $23,500
Negotiation consideration$21,500 – $22,000

These figures are estimates for context — not an appraisal or guarantee. The comparable range reflects similar listings and condition; the negotiation consideration factors in the findings below.

Key findings

Estimated repair ranges are context based on what we observe — not quotes or guarantees.

  • FlagEngineRear main seal seeping — no active drip yet, but growing area of residue$900 – $1,400
  • WatchBrakesFront pads ~3mm, rotors showing wear ridge; rears healthy$350 – $500
  • WatchTiresTires 6+ years old with uneven inner-edge wear; alignment recommended$800 + align
  • WatchSuspensionSlight play in front sway-bar end links$120 – $220
  • OKFrame / undercarriageStraight, no structural repair evidence, surface rust only
  • OKDiagnosticsNo stored or pending fault codes across scanned modules
  • OKDrivetrainShifts clean, 4x4 engages correctly, no driveline noise on road test

Diagnostic scan results

Full-system scan performed. Modules read:

Engine (PCM) Transmission (TCM) ABS Airbag (SRS) Body (BCM) Tire pressure (TPMS)

No stored or pending fault codes. All emissions monitors ready.

Repair priorities

Address now
  • Monitor/repair rear main seal seepage before it worsens
Soon
  • Front brakes at service interval
  • Alignment + plan for tires
  • Sway-bar end links
Monitor
  • Surface rust on undercarriage (normal for the region)
  • Battery age — test again next service

Photo documentation

Every finding is documented with photos. Example set:

Undercarriage photo documenting frame condition
Photo documenting rear main seal seepage
Photo documenting tire wear
Photo documenting brake condition

Cosmetic observations

Minor rock chips on the hood and a small door-edge ding (passenger rear). Paint reads consistent across panels — no obvious repaint or overspray. Interior wear appropriate for miles; all controls functional.

Mechanical observations

Cold start clean, idle steady. Belts and hoses in serviceable condition. Coolant and brake fluid acceptable; oil recently changed. Road test: tracks straight, brakes even, 4x4 engages and disengages correctly.

Vehicle-history observations

History review showed a clean title with regular reported service and no reported accidents. Nothing in the history contradicts what we observed on the vehicle. History reflects only what's been reported — the physical inspection remains the primary basis for this report.

Inspection limitations

This reflects the observable, testable condition at the time of inspection. We did not disassemble components or remove interior panels. Some areas can't be fully accessed without a lift or teardown. No inspection can guarantee discovery of every hidden issue.

Inspector's notes

"Honestly, a solid truck. The seal seepage is the one thing I'd want priced in — it's not leaking on the ground yet, but it's the kind of thing that gets worse, not better. Between that, the brakes, and tires due soon, you've got real leverage to negotiate. At the low $22s this is a good buy. At full asking, you'd be paying for repairs you're about to make. Happy to walk you through all of it on a call."
