Book Inspection
Full scope

What we look at — in plain language

Technical where it counts, translated into what it actually means for you as the buyer.

Engine & Drivetrain

How the engine and transmission actually run — not just how they sound in a parking lot.

  • Cold start behavior and idle quality
  • Transmission engagement and shift feel
  • Drivetrain and driveline observations
  • Belts, hoses, and visible wear items
  • Signs of past overheating or major repair

Fluids, Leaks & Cooling

The quiet problems that turn into big bills — spotted before they're yours.

  • Oil, coolant, transmission, and other fluid condition where accessible
  • Active leaks and evidence of past leaks
  • Cooling-system observations
  • Contamination or mixing that hints at deeper issues

Steering & Suspension

Whether it drives tight and straight, or hides worn parts and past impacts.

  • Shocks, struts, and visible suspension components
  • Steering play and response
  • Bushings, ball joints, and tie rods where visible
  • Ride height and alignment indicators

Brakes

Brake pad and rotor condition, including remaining material where visible and measurable.

  • Pad and rotor condition where visible
  • Brake response and feel on the road test
  • Signs of leaks, pulling, or noise
  • Parking-brake operation

Tires & Wheels

Tread, age, and damage — often a hidden four-figure surprise.

  • Tread depth and even/uneven wear patterns
  • Tire age and dry-rot/cracking
  • Wheel damage and matched sets
  • Wear that points to alignment or suspension issues

Frame & Undercarriage

We physically get under the vehicle — where a history report can't go.

  • Frame rails and structural areas we can access
  • Visible previous collision or repair evidence
  • Rust, rot, and corrosion
  • Undercarriage damage and impact signs

Body & Collision Evidence

Panel work, overspray, and repairs a good detailer knows how to hide.

  • Visible previous collision and repair evidence
  • Paint, panel gaps, and overspray
  • Exterior and body condition
  • Glass, lighting, and trim

Interior, Electrical & Accessories

The features you're paying for — confirmed to actually work.

  • Interior condition and wear
  • Electrical and accessory operation
  • Climate control, windows, locks, and infotainment
  • Battery and charging observations where applicable

OBD & Full-System Diagnostic Scan

We scan supported vehicle modules for stored, pending, and module-specific diagnostic trouble codes available at the time of inspection.

  • OBD/full-system scan where supported
  • Stored and pending diagnostic trouble codes available at the time of inspection
  • Module-specific faults where supported
  • Readiness/monitor status where available

Road Test

Driven under real conditions — when the vehicle, seller, and conditions permit.

  • Acceleration, braking, and shifting under load
  • Steering, tracking, and ride behavior
  • Noises, vibrations, and warning behavior
  • Performed only when it can be done safely and with permission

Vehicle History Review

What's been reported — used as supporting evidence alongside the physical inspection.

  • Vehicle-history review using available legitimate sources
  • Recall and safety information where available
  • Title and reported-event context
  • Cross-checked against what we actually see on the vehicle

Report, Verdict & Debrief

A clear digital report, a Buy / Caution / Walk Away call, and a real conversation about it.

  • Detailed digital inspection report with photos of findings
  • Repair-cost context and estimates where reasonably possible
  • Market and value context where reasonably possible
  • Buy / Caution / Walk Away assessment
  • Post-inspection customer debrief and consultation

An inspection reflects the observable, testable condition of the vehicle at the time of inspection. Not every vehicle supports every diagnostic function, and not every component can be accessed. No inspection can guarantee the discovery of every hidden problem — but an independent expert on your side dramatically improves what you know before you buy.

On the job

This is a hands-on inspection

Under the vehicle, into the engine bay, scan tool connected, and out on the road — not a walk-around with a clipboard.

How it works

Simple from booking to verdict

  1. 01

    Book online or call

    Takes 2 minutes

Tell us the vehicle and where it is. You arrange access with the seller — we handle everything from there. Have one on the line? Call or text and we'll tell you the soonest we can get to it.

  2. 02

    We come to the vehicle

    On-site, ~60–90 min

We travel to the car — private driveway or dealer lot. Full multi-point inspection, undercarriage and frame, OBD/full-system scan where supported, and a road test when conditions permit. Photos throughout.

  3. 03

    You get the full picture

    Digital report + debrief

A detailed report with photos of every finding, repair-cost context where we can estimate it, market/value context, and a clear Buy / Caution / Walk Away verdict — plus a call to walk you through it.

Weekday evening and Saturday appointments are available. Same-day appointments may be available depending on schedule and location.

The deliverable

A decision, documented

You don't just get a checklist — you get a clear recommendation backed by photos and context.

Questions

About the inspection

What does the inspection include?

A comprehensive multi-point inspection covering the engine and drivetrain, fluids and leaks, steering, suspension and brakes, tires, frame and undercarriage, body and collision evidence, interior, and electrical systems. It also includes an OBD/full-system diagnostic scan where the vehicle supports it, a road test when conditions permit, a Vehicle History Review, photos of findings, a detailed digital report, and a Buy / Caution / Walk Away verdict with a debrief call.

Do I need to be there for the inspection?

No. Many of our customers are buying from a distance or can't get away from work. You arrange access with the seller, we go to the vehicle, and we walk you through everything on a debrief call afterward.

Can a dealer refuse a pre-purchase inspection?

A dealer can, but a reasonable seller usually won't — an independent inspection is a normal part of buying a used vehicle. If a seller flatly refuses to allow any inspection, that itself is useful information worth thinking hard about. We work with both private sellers and dealerships.

What happens if the inspection finds problems?

You get the full picture: what we found, photos of it, repair-cost context where we can reasonably estimate it, and a clear Buy / Caution / Walk Away recommendation. Sometimes that means negotiating a fair price with real leverage. Sometimes it means walking away from a bad one — which can be the most valuable outcome of all.

How long does an inspection take?

Plan for roughly 60–90 minutes on-site depending on the vehicle and access, plus the time to prepare your report. You'll typically have your digital report and debrief shortly after.
